You Don’t Have to Be a Rasta to Listen to Reggae
Reggae music has a gentle easy beat that can be enjoyed by everyone, not just Rastas. Much of it shares positive messages so it is no wonder that it has entered the mainstream. Lots of Christian music becomes mainstream, and Reggae is essentially about praising Jah. Songs of praise were some of the first songs every written. You can also learn from Reggae, many songs talk about history and controversial topics. You don’t have to be a Rasta to listen to Reggae, it’s just good music to chill too. Even kids can get into reggae. A local teacher here taught her 1st grade class to sing “One Love” and it was the sweetest thing in the world. Everyone from grandparents to teenagers were feeling the message of “Let’s get together and feel alright.” It’s just about good music and sharing it with friends, that’s something anyone can dig. When I hear reggae on the radio I turn it up and the worries of the day melt away. I feel like I’m on vacation sipping a Bahama Mama on the beach with sun on my toes. I don’t know of any other genre of music that can make you escape like that
